My Process

01.

Timeline

After I receive your inquiry, we should connect within 48 hours. We will set a time for a consult, and can book that day! Once your contract is signed, and deposit is paid we will be set! Maternity sessions are typically held between 30-34 weeks. My on-call time for your birth starts at 37 weeks, and ends with your birth!. I guarantee a session date within two weeks of your delivery for your in-home newborn session.

02.

Contract and Payment

Once you have decided to book a session with me, you will receive your contract within 24 hours from the time of our consultation. I will walk you through all of the packages available, and discuss the process in greater detail. Sessions are not scheduled and confirmed until the contract is signed and deposit is paid. Once I have received those two items, we are all set to move forward!

Planning and Session

The fun part! Okay, it's all the fun part, but this is where we get to collaborate to bring your family light into the story. We can go through design options - I can provide tips on coordinating palette, we can go through my client closet pieces to find something fabulous, discuss any images you're hoping to capture, and get into the nitty gritty of what capturing your family will look and feel like.

I strive to make our session enjoyable and memorable. For me, this is about the pieces of your family that make you unique. I want you to relax, tuck into each other, and create memories for a lifetime so you're able to look back on this fleeting moment in time.

04.

Galleries and Prints

I guarantee images within three weeks after a session. You will receive a digital gallery with all the photos from our session. The inclusions of your gallery depend on the package you selected during our consultation. Prints can be purchased directly from your gallery in everything from beautiful photos to timeless wall art. I will be with you every step of the way to ensure that you have everything you've envisioned for this precious time.

FAQ

What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?

I recommend scheduling a session within the first two weeks, but I have done newborn sessions as late as three months! Babies change so quickly in the first weeks of their lives, but it's also a time of recovery and rest for families. They're meeting their newest family member, and that is the most important thing. But, the majority of my newborn sessions are held between one and two weeks after birth!

How many pictures will we receive?

The number of images you receive depends on the image package you select during our consultation. A standard session with me will yield at least 50 images.

What does being on call for my birth look like?

It means my gear is ready to go, I am never very far from my house, and my phone is on HIGH at all times. We will go over everything during the consult call, but it basically means that I am on Baby Watch right there with you (I just skip the contractions, lucky me!). It means I check my phone twenty-seven times before I go to "sleep" every night. It means that my clients who might have a maternity or newborn session know that I am on call, and that birth can't be rescheduled. It means that your birth is my top priority.

How long will you be at my birth?

We will discuss this in greater detail during our consult, but I am with you from active labor, through birth, and for two hours after your baby arrives.

How should we dress for our family session?

However you feel like you! I can provide tips for color palettes that are complementary in addition to providing pieces from my own client closet. I find that when families push their comfort zone with outfits, they don't always settle into their session. Let's have a style consult and go over all the details!

We don’t feel very confident in front of the camera, is that ok?

Of course! I strive to make everyone feel at ease, but part of my goal is to capture what your family is like when I'm not here! I will provide some direction, but this should be relaxed and enjoyable. Many of the best moments are what I call the "in-betweeners"... The moments where you've forgotten that anyone is with you, and you're sharing a moment of tenderness and love. This is not a runway show, and there is no pressure to be anything other than exactly who you are.
